I just wanted to note, that not all the folders in kmail get counted towards the "unread messages" display (whether its the pop up dialog or the system tray): all the unread messages in special folders under the "Local Folders" account (i.e., trash, drafts, etc') except "inbox" are never counted, and I haven't found a way to configure that (looks like its part of the "magic" of the "local" account). I think that it would be useful to be able to configure that capability, on a per folder basis, for non-local accounts. This would be a good solution for this issue. Same/similar needs here. I mark messages "as read" manualy and would like to have them marked as read when they are moved to trash. Bug 76045 seems to be a duplicate of this one. But for some reason it's closed as "works_for_me" because that guy found some checkbox "Ignore new mail in this folder". I wonder why this feature has been removed / hidden on the way from 1.6.1 to 1.9.x ??? Bug 92646#c1 also hints at this mysterious checkbox. Moreover Bug 145809 could be solved by this feature as well. It would be really great if you could kindly consider this feature! Thanks Having an "ignore new mail in this folder" checkbox, AND having that configuration apply the behavior specified in this bug's description (*) will indeed close this ticket and most of the other tickets mentioned above. Having this behavior automatically applied to trash folders (as configured in the IMAP settings) instead of a checkbox would also be a huge improvement and would work well enough for me. [*] i.e. not counting new mail in the specified folder towards all the different "unread mail" counts. The current/previous implementation of the "ignore new mail" functionality did not do that properly. It works for me. At least in KMail 1.11.0, if I uncheck the box that says "Act on new / unread messages in this folder", then the unread messages from that folder don't get counted in the total unread messages count. Maybe I was not clear enough on my problem. The trash is *not* counted against the tray-icon ... Instead I see it as bold to the left in the folder overview. Whenever I'm done reading my mail, it's the only folder left in bold, thereby attracting my attention (and I admit: annoying me :-) Checking or unchecking "Act on new" won't prevent the trash from becoming bold. The only remedy so far is to manually mark the trash as read. *** Bug 136821 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented. Thank you for your understanding. Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2. This feature is missed in kmail2, but will be very useful, because after deleting unread message we see uread messages in Trash folder, this is not good. But I can't reopen the bug. Another way for fixing this bug is marking message as read when moving to trash. My kmail claims to be version 4.7.3 in KDE 4.7.4 ... so is this now kmail 1 or kmail 2 ??? How to tell the difference, if the program doesn't know for itself? Back to topic: Yes, this is still an issue for me! This would be a great help when migrating email from a previous install. I have hundreds of saved emails, and it takes ages to mark them all as read. |
