Yes there is a problem. Possible reason: When you click on download from k3b.org site, it takes you to sourcefoge download page BUT the address bar still shows www.k3b.org. If you dont do anything, after few seconds a dialog opens asking whether to save/open/cancel. If you click on "Your download should begin shortly. If it does not, try" link, 2 dialogs asking whether you want to save/open or cancle and these 2 dialogs lead to problem. This is in contrast to normal behaviour on other sourceforge downloads (like say http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/xmmsmplayer/xmmsmplayer-0.5.tar.gz?download) that when you click on link, only one dialog box opens and address bar shows http://umn.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/xmmsmplayer/xmmsmplayer-0.5.tar.gz after clicking the link.
Yes. That two dialog boxes are the problem. Now if you'll try firefox browser, you'll get two windows also. But firefox is not crashing. So I think this is the browser's but not k3b.org's site problem.

Same here, kubuntu 6-06 KDE 3.5.4, any sf.net download, choose you're mirror, and click on the link.
I have this problem too. Easy reproduce in KDE 3.5.4: Open a download on sourceforge, like http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/transkode/transkode-0.6b2.tar.bz2?use_mirror=belnet Before the auto download starts click on the link in "Your download should begin shortly. If it does not, try http://belnet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/transkode/transkode-0.6b2.tar.bz2 or choose a different mirror". When the auto download asks if I want to save it, konqueror crashes. It happens every time. I'm running Gentoo 2006.0. Havn't had to problem in earier versions of KDE, maybe it has to do with sourceforge's new site and the way it handles downloads now.

I've just tried on Gentoo and Dapper Drake (both with kde 3.5.4). I've had no crash, I've tried to activate and deactivate kget as download manager. But' I've no crash.

Some more info on the possible cause: in kdebase-3.5.5/konqueror/konq_mainwindow.cc you have got a function void KonqMainWindow::openURL Somewhere in this function there is following Code snippet: KonqRun * run = new KonqRun( this, view /* can be 0L */, url, req, trustedSource ); // Never start in external browser run->setEnableExternalBrowser(false); if ( view ) view->setRun( run ); else if ( !req.newTab ) { // there can be only one :) (when not a new tab) delete m_initialKonqRun; m_initialKonqRun = run; } if ( view == m_currentView ) startAnimation(); connect( run, SIGNAL( finished() ), this, SLOT( slotRunFinished() ) ); Now I think the problem is that openURL gets called once you click on the download link. This opens a new KonqRun instance thread (that opens the "Save to" window. Meanwhile openURL gets called another time (timer event from the download page?). In openURL the the first KonqRun instance then gets deleted (but its thread keeps running). Now when you close the 2nd download window the first download window gets accessible again but the underlying code already vanished... I think that it should be made impossible to delete the object when foundMimeType is still running.

Yeah - seen here also. You don't neccesarily need some page that pops up automatically. Just go to some page like this: http://mirrors.dotsrc.org/debian/ and click on one of the files that konqueror doesn't handle directly - when the 'open with' dialog comes up, click on the link again toget one more. Try cancel both. Try click on the link multiple times to get more than 5 'open with' dialogs - canceling two makes it crash. With a more extended backtrace. @Matthias: could you reproduce the crash even with 3.5.9 and (or) kde 4?
I do can reproduce this bug in Konqueror 4.0.4. Konqueror sometimes is too slow to load the whole Sourceforge.net page before you get the dialog box. So, you have to catch "the right moment", but it definitely crashes.
There are no threads used in KonqRun, the proposed patch makes no sense. Does someone have a valgrind trace of this crash? (The gdb backtrace in comment #29 has nothing of interest, comment #3 has nothing either; it looks like going back to deleted code so the problem is before, a valgrind log is necessary to find out more)

I got a crash in Konqueror on the my.yahoo.com home page by simply moving the mouse over one of the expandable applets - weather or news, not sure exactly where the pointer was at the instant of the crash, but a click had not even been made yet.
I'm unable to reproduce this now (konqueror 4.2.2). Looks like the open with.. dialog is modal now (or more modal). Could anyone try as well? Thanks.
I'm not able to reproduce the crash in current KDE 4 trunk. Someone is?
