Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2) Installed from: RedHat RPMs I've not seen yet a KDE app with separators within its toolbars. I know they exist, because I can use separators in Konqueror bookmarks :-). Let's use Kate as an example; it has 16 icons in the Main toolbar... I belive that: - Despite they are "main" buttons and because of that all of them are in the main toolbar, they can be categorised. - Categorise the icons with separators make the user experience better, and it's not difficult at all for the developer. Note: I reported first this problem to kdevelop in bug #82311, but then I noteiced that it happens in every kde app.
I'm sorry this has been reported to kile ! I selected "user interface" in the list, but apparently there's a bug in the bug reporting page... please can someone move this to where it shoudl be ? BTW, it's not a bug but a wish :-P.
You filed it as a 'Kile-User Interface' bug, that's why it appeared as a Kile bug. I can tell you that there are separator in the menus and toolbars, however by default they are almost invisible (that is, that create some extra spacing but no "line"). I will reassign this to the kde libraries. best, Jeroen
Jeroen: Thanks for your comment and support! I noticed that as you said, there are different (larger) spaces between some icons. In Kopete conversation window, in the main toolbar, there are "line" separators. I think that that kind of separators should be the default ones; the other kind (small blank space) is not noticed even when you look for them. I'll try to add an attachement that shows the difference between the two kind of separators.
Nothing to do with KStyle. Apps' .rc files just list empty separators
Created attachment 6199 [details] Here is shown the empty separators that most apps use. The example is a konqueror' screenshot
Created attachment 6200 [details] Here is shown the visible and practical line separators that (only?) kopete uses
Maksim Orlovich: > Nothing to do with KStyle. What does that mean ? Sorry, I don't quite understand your post. > Apps' .rc files just list empty separators Whatever, IMHO every separator should be visible and noticeable by the user, so that it's not useless. Thus, the empty separators should be interpreted as line separators (the ones shown in the second attachment), everytime. What do you think about this idea ?
Line separators are now default in HEAD.
