Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.1) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc-3.3.3 nptl propolice linux-headers-2.6.4 OS: Linux In Control Center->Desktop->Window Behaviour, Adanced Tab: Enabling "Only when moving windows" in "Active Desktop Borders" works ok for the current session, but while it's correctly saved as ElectricBorders=1 in ~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc under [Windows], it doesn't get applied back when opening a new kde session. Coming back to Control Center->Desktop->Window Behaviour, Adanced Tab and Enabling "Always Enabled", and then go back to "Only when moving windows" fix the problem, but for the current session only. You have to do that all over again whenever you open a new session.
I cannot reproduce the problem. Are you sure you don't have a problem with file permissions or maybe some distribution-specific script overwriting the change?
The permissions on the file looks ok: $ ls -al /home/gbenoist/.kde3.2/share/config/kwinrc -rw------- 1 gbenoist users 1208 Apr 15 02:50 kwinrc As for my linux distribution, i'm using gentoo and installing packages from sources with portage. I dont think it gets overwritten, because if i look at kwinrc before and just after logging into KDE, i can see electricborders is set to 1, the corresponding setting to have active desktop switching only when moving windows. As i said, it isnt taken in account. Let me know how i can help you fixing/closing this bug.
I misunderstood the problem, I thought the problem was that the value on the config file changes after KDE restart.
just curious, why has this bug been marked as resolved? i can't see any resolution :)
Because it has been fixed.

I do not think this bug should be resolved. I still have the problem with kde 3.2.2. I have to reenable Active Boarders each time I log in. So the problem still exists... I did check my ~/.kde3.2/share/config/kwinrc and it is being saved correctly, but the session just isn't being restored correctly.
That's probably because the bug has been fixed after 3.2.2 packages were created.
