What I would like is a meta file search function built into Konqueror. For example, in Mozilla Mail, there is a search bar and when I am in a specific mail folder, I can type in a string of text that I think is contained in the Subject or Senders details. Then, only emails matching that criteria are displayed in that folder, allowing me to quickly find a specific mail etc.

Now, if Konq could do this, that would be great! All it needs to do is parse the file names in a directory. So, for example, let's say I have a dir. of RPM's and instead of hitting the first letter of the rpm I want and then scrolling to it, I could just type the first few letters of the rpm name and then poof, that would be the only file showing in that dir! Now that would be cool. That 'Meta Search' Function could be located just below the current address/path bar.

As I have discussed with Alexander, I know there is quite a bit of search functionality already in Konqueror and maybe some of it just needs to be organised differently, or added to.

For example, in the Meta Search available in Konqueror, I have to be exact. So, let's say I am looking for a dir called .avm, I have to Type '.avm.' and then click search, whereas if I typed'avm' and clicked search, nothing would show up/be found. Plus, I have to click search in the first place, instead of all matching files just showing as I type the characters I am looking for. It's a subtle change but it can affect productivity in big ways I think.

The Search Functions don't really do *easily* what Mozilla does for example. It's just a feature that I think many people could make use of if built into Konqueror.

Otherwise, I will just use what's there for now! Which is great stuff of course.
