Description Mart 2003-12-10 15:45:35 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.93)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 3.2
OS: Linux

It would be nice to have some quickfind textbox in some programs that presents to the user
a big amount of data.
It is yet present in some apps, like the file selector present in kate, juk or kaddressbook.
Other place I would be glad to see it are the bookmarks and history Konqueror sidebars,
in kmail (a la Mozilla mail) and in kpackage with the same beaviour.
The examples above would filter the items presented to the user (i.e, in kpackage
the user writes "kde" in the quickfind textbox and the program only displays
the packages containing the word "kde" in the list of installed packages).
A case apart is konqueror. A textbox near the url combobox should be useful either in
icon view and in html view.
in the first case it could filter the content of that directory, like today inserting
something like "file:/some/location/*.txt" in the url bar, and in the html view
it could act as interface for the konqueror internet keywords, like today inserting
"gg:some question" in the url bar, maybe in a combobox with the list of the
search providers, like Opera and Firebird.

I don't know how would be hard to implement, but I think the following thing would be
a great increase of the overall usability of kde.
