Not now, I don't think conference feature is usefull anyway,
First priority is DCC to me, and get userlist handling sorted (smooth export/import/edit/removal).

Your mileage may very, I know at least few people that dropped kopete for kadu or gg2, because of unsupported conference feature.

I'd love to drop Kadu and use (only) Kopete, but I'm unable to do so because of the lack of conference support in the GG plugin. I really do use this nice feature on daily basis, so depriving myself of it is a no-go.

This bug is really old, is there any work going on to implement this?

I've given this bug 20 votes to stress how important it is to me.

atm no time to implement it. But if someone would like to pick it up,  
as SOC project, I can mentor it with pleasure.

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
