I would love to see multi-user chat (conference) support in Kopete's gadu-gadu plugin. Kadu can already do this, AFAIK, so maybe some code can be ripped directly from them.

nope, code cannot be ripped out of kadu. Kadu is written very badly, plus kopete is much more advanced application, there are much more things you need to write to cope with groupchat.
