Description Pablo De Napoli 2003-11-25 20:06:34 UTC
Version: 3.1.4 (using KDE KDE 3.1.4)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources

OS: Linux

pdf pripdf printing as landscape does not work in
kghostview (or in konqueror)

It seems that pdf printing in landscape (horizontal)mode does not work in
kghostview.
I'm using

related software:

cupsd 1.1.19.r1
kdelibs 3.1.4 (with USE="cups")
kdegraphics 3.1.4
ghostscript-7.0.5-r3
foomatic-3.0.0

hardware
printer HP-640-C (Hewlett Packard)

I guess that this problem is most probabbly related to
the KDE print system (in kdelibs) rather than with
the application itself
Comment 1 Mike Petersen 2004-03-30 05:25:30 UTC
Also had this problem with a HP6L Printer using Cups, using KDE 3.2.1
Comment 2 Donovan Long 2004-04-02 06:03:55 UTC
I have kghostview 0.20 (KDE 3.2.1), and it also prints landscape PDFs in portrait mode, even though I've changed the printer setting in the CUPs driver to landscape. KPDF respects the orientation setting, so it's not the driver, but prints small text as indistinguishable blobs... :-/
Printer is a Samsung ML-1710 Laser
Comment 3 Donovan Long 2004-04-02 06:07:04 UTC
To clarify:

The PDF is landscape.
Changes are made in the printer driver to indicate it is a landscape printout.
When printed, it's a standard portrait print with the right side of the PDF cut off.

:)

a pdf landscape presentation

If I print this pdf with KGhostView setting horizontal with cups driver for the
page orientation it doesn't work it prints like portrait mode.

Same problem here. I set up a wide text page to view in landscape mode in kghostview. That works but when I attempt to print, using an Epson C82/CUPS, and set option to landscape, it prints in portrait mode and I lose the right side of the image.

A VERY simple one page PDF in landscape mode

Here is a sample of a PDF file which has the problem : when displaying it in
KGhostView it is in landscape, although when printed it's portrait !

Bug still there in 3.4.0-rc1
Comment 11 Axel Braun 2005-09-01 16:57:39 UTC
I have a similar case, which is probably associated to this bug: a PDF in landscape format is previewed in kghostview: It is displayed as portrait, and the lower part of it is chopped, it is not displayed completely.
kghostview 0.20, KDE 3.4.2 level b (SuSE 9.3)
Comment 12 Giovanni Venturi 2009-01-11 00:03:41 UTC
kghostview has died in kde 4.
