Description Jens 2003-11-24 10:42:25 UTC
Version:            (using KDE 3.1.93 (CVS >= 20031028),  (testing/unstable))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 (Debian)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.22b-w4l-p4

Hi,

In the current CVS, and the last couple compiles (about since End of September, if I mark text with Ctrl-Shift-Left/right in ANY input field in Konqueror, or other KDE app, I cannot use the keyboard to replace the text afterwards.

I often mark a URL to replace it. With the mouse this works fine, but when I use the keyboard, I have to re-mark the text with the mouse to be able to enter text.

I'm using Debian sid and the Debian CVS packages from orth (www.opendoorsoftware.com) from 3.11.2003.

Thanks,

Here's my text from the duplicate bug report to keep it all together

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.94)
 Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
 Compiler: gcc 3.3.x (Mandrake compilation)
 OS: Linux

Extremely easy to duplicate, and a serious error for 3.2

 goto google.com
 Enter a search word.
Select the search word by dragging the mouse from right to left
 over the text.
All your keyboard input now is apparently discarded.
It is not possible to enter or modify any text until
 you cancel the selection

When you select the word with keyboard input (ctrl-A) it
is possible to replace the word (typng replaces selection).

So there are problems relating to mouse actions in text
 fields.

 I believe this is a regression w.r.t. 3.1.4 but I'm not
 entirely sure of that.

It looks like this bug is a duplicate of Bug 66296: When selected a text witn't delete it with 'delete' nor 'backspace' nor any other character to overwrite it.
Since that bug has already much more votes should we mark this one as
duplicate?
Comment 4 Jens 2004-02-07 19:03:05 UTC
Seems to work with 3.2.0-final. Closing (for now).

It's probably a dupe of Bug 66296 anyway. :)
