Description tnagy 2003-11-02 20:01:16 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

When there is many channels opened or when the channel names are long, it is necessary to scroll to see the tabs. I suggest the same behaviour as in konqueror cvs : the string names are truncated so that all tabs fit in the window.

There is also a (minor) problem with the close buttons on the channels (they are there by default) : they take some space and are redundant by the popup menu (right-click & close on it). When choosing to see what happens on a channel one may close inadvertently. A single close button on the right like in konqueror or mozilla would be more user-friendly and take less space.

Close buttons on tabs are now default to off.

I like the fact that tabs with shorter names on them are smaller.

I am ambivalent about this feature. While I was originally in favor of fixed tab sizes, I have gotten used to KDE's auto-sizing tabs. Actually, Konqui auto sizes tabs.

It has now been a while without much happening about this bug... It's gotten a nice bunch of votes, and people seem to generally like this. Not only would it make Konversation act like other apps' tabs, it would also make it possible to have more than a few tabs (15) open on a 1600x1200 screen without scrolling. The optimal solution for large numbers of channels might well be the solution presented in bug #87998 - a treeview - and not resizing tabs, but at least with resizing tabs there would be a way around it. As i understand it, in kdelibs 3.5 this is just a simple call and it does the resizing for you?

Implemented as requested in SVN (many months ago, in fact). The behaviour matches Konqueror 3.5.
