Version: 3.1.2 (using KDE 3.1.2) Installed from: Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 (Mandrake Linux 9.2 3.2.3-1mdk) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-0.2mdk With is maturity KDE is now a much nicer experience than anything from M$ - an XP user even told me as much ! However there are a couple of features which Window$ has had ever since 95 that would make KDE even better. I really miss the auto dial feature of Window$. I have tried to used `diald' but only got it to work once ! It is just so nice to bring up any URL and have the `system' dial out automatically. It is also nice to be asked if the connection should be dropped when the browser, FTP client or whatever is closed. This is even nicer when the link drops due to in activity. Just click on a link and the `system' reconnects you. I did try to hook Kppp into diald but could never get it to fly. The reason for doing this was to get to option to connect or not which `diald' doesn't give you. Kppp would then have needed the option to dial automatically which would have been beyond me anyway ! It also means that you can keep an eye on the connection progress. I realise there are network / multi user issues surrounding this but an option in the KDE control center could be used to turn this feature on and off. Thanks.
Just note that there is a lot of functionality involved here that goes deeper down than KDE. We need some sort of Kernel support and daemons.
