Description lindqvist 2002-12-23 00:47:54 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.0.99)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package
OS: Linux

When switching to/from fullscreen in ogle quite often something weird happens and the window disappears altogether... the weird thing is that it doesn't ever happen under other window managers (on the very same machine)! That's why I think that it is kwin related... From what I can recall it didn't use to happen under kwin either! (Before upgrading to 3.1.0rc5)

This is an example of the last bit of the debug output from ogle...

same problem for me (KDE 3.1rc5, Ogle 0.8.4-1, Debian Woody, XFree86 4.2, Matrox G550 in
Dual-Screen mode (non-xinerama))

This is some output from ogle on my machine (sounds a little bit rude, but expresses a lot):

Still happens in 3.1.
Comment 4 Éric Brunet 2003-02-15 21:30:12 UTC
I have the same problem here (kde 3.1 binaries for asplinux on a redhat 7.3, ogle 0.8.5)
I confirm that the problem lies with kwin: if you kill kwin, ogle works perfectly.
And it used to work without killing anything before I upgraded kde to 3.1
Comment 5 Gunnar Johannesmeyer 2003-02-15 22:34:29 UTC
same here (kde 3.1 gentoo 1.4r2)
Comment 6 lindqvist 2003-02-17 19:35:17 UTC
Also thought I should confirm that the issue remains in KDE 3.1.0.
Comment 7 Lubos Lunak 2003-02-27 14:27:52 UTC
Problem identified, but needs more investigation before it can be fixed. As a workaround, the apps
may explicitly reparent the window back to the root window after unmapping it.

Comment 8 Lubos Lunak 2003-03-03 14:10:22 UTC
Should be fixed in the next KDE version.

Comment 9 Gunnar Johannesmeyer 2003-03-15 10:19:44 UTC
fixed in ogle 0.9.1
works fine with the normal kde3.1 release (gentoo-package)
Comment 10 Konrad Rosenbaum 2003-03-15 16:37:18 UTC
I can confirm that this bug is fixed with ogle 0.9.1 on KDE 3.1.
