Description matt 2002-12-09 20:45:50 UTC
Version:           1.5.9 (using KDE 3.1.9)
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.2 20021202 (prerelease)
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-jam1

When I double click on an e-mail in Kmail it bring up a seperate window that has nothing it. There is no text or headers on it. All it shows is the toolbar that has relpy, reply to all , forward and print. I can see the e-mail just fine in the preview pan window but when I double click on it that occurs. This is on all my e-mail messages and not just one.

Matt, can we close this bugreport, or are you still seeing this?
Comment 3 Till Adam 2003-07-23 20:39:20 UTC
Closing, as there was no further response.
Comment 4 Jelte Werkhoven 2004-02-17 12:07:48 UTC
I'm having exactly the same problem as described here, but with KMail 1.6 & KDE 3.2.0.
Comment 5 Ingo Klöcker 2004-02-17 16:22:34 UTC
@Jelte: Are you using IMAP? If yes, does disabling "Load attachments on demand" in the configuration of the IMAP account help?
Comment 6 Jelte Werkhoven 2004-02-17 16:27:00 UTC
@Ingo: Nope. I've two pop3 accounts configured.
Comment 7 Jelte Werkhoven 2004-03-10 14:42:19 UTC
Problem still exists in kmail 1.6.1 running under kde 3.2.1
Comment 8 Ingo Klöcker 2004-03-10 17:56:18 UTC
@Jelte: Which OS (Linux, FreeBSD, etc.) are you using? Which distribution are you using? Or did you compile KDE yourself?

Can you probably send us (or me) your kmailrc (it's usually in ~/.kde/share/config/)? Make sure that you remove any passwords from kmailrc before you send it anywhere.
Comment 9 Jelte Werkhoven 2004-03-11 11:01:15 UTC
@Ingo: I'm using SuSE linux 9.0, with the KDE-upgrade packets SuSE compiles. I've attached my kmailrc, but have removed logins/passwords and recent email-addresses and files (marked with REMOVED MANUALLY).

Comment 11 Ingo Klöcker 2004-03-12 16:31:53 UTC
@Jelte: The relevant entry in the kmailrc is
[Reader]
...
MessagePaneHeight=0

Because the height is 0 it's not visible.

This is caused by the way you hid the preview pane in the main window. To fix the problem do the following:
Drag the splitter bar which is below the message list up so that the message structure viewer or the preview pane becomes visible. You need to drag it quite a bit. If the message structure viewer becomes visible then also drag the splitter bar which is below the message structure viewer up until the preview pane becomes visible. Then go to Appearance->Layout and select "Don't show a message preview pane". Now quit KMail. After restarting KMail the problem should be solved.

@KMail Developers: We need to save the height of the message pane (and probably some other settings) for the main window and the separate message window in different config keys/sections.

i stumbled over this today:

by accident the message pane vanished here, i had a very hard time to get it back. This should not be possible. Average users cannot get arround this.
