(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: korganizer Version: 3.0 (using KDE 3.0.0 ) Severity: wishlist Installed from: FreeBSD Ports Compiler: Not Specified OS: Not Specified OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified I would like to see the ability to associate files images websites and other data with specific items in korganiser. I would like to be able to drag and drop a file onto a TODO item and it would create a [+] submenu that would contain a list of items associated with it as well as right click "add file..." on the item. This way all my resources on a particular subject say a software project can have the project file which can be launched a link to API documentation and links to mock up photos of the UI. This is something that I like very much from TheBrain http://www.thebrain.com/ being able to associate all resources in one spot which can track time spent on projects and allow a central place to 'organise' would be an invaluable feature. Bug report 65980 basically suggests the same, although there the reporter specifically suggested associating a directory to each event/date and jus show the contents of that directory. Reinhold
Hi, Thanks for the bug report. In the latest versions of KOrganizer, you can associate any URL with any event/todo, so basically your wish is fulfilled. Note that this just stores references to external data, not the data itself. E.g. you can associate the file /home/reinhold/test.data with an event or todo, and the file name will be stored in the event, not the file itself. Dragging a file onto an event or todo is not yet implemented, though, but would be a nice thing to have. That might also serve as a good starting point for anyone who wants to dig into KOrganzier development (Junior Job). Cheers, Reinhold
Created attachment 7054 [details] Patch to enable drag'n'drop in korganizer attachments
The above is a patch to allow Drag'n'Drop on the attachments tab of an event or todo (dragging to the actual event/todo in the main window seemed like a confusing UI to me..if someone wants it I could add it though). Tested on: Files (text, binary and music), URL's from konq and dirs. Patch applies to the korganizer directory of the kdepim module (question: do you guys want patches in the module's directory (in this case kdepim) or in the program's directory (like this one is)) Note: First attempt at writing something for KDE (came from GNOME), so any info/tips would be appreciated. (and ya this really should have been in the comment area for the patch...;) )
Allen, are you still tracking patches?

Patch from Narayan Newton committed. However I don't know if this closes the bug... Cornelius will determine that. Narayan: your patch was fine although the source indentation/formatting wasn't compliant (but I fixed that). No biggie. Thanks for the patch.
*** Bug has been marked as fixed ***.
The patch only implemented dropping onto to-do items. Working properly with the attached data is another, harder issue, which we need to tackle in more generality.
Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created korganizer-devel mailing list.
In current KDE4, you can D&D a file to an event (in the event editor or in calendar view). You can D&D a file even to the TODO editor, but not to a todo in the todolist.
