Version: 1.90.0 (using 4.4.1 (KDE 4.4.1), Gentoo) Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.33-gentoo I have an appendable DVD-R with a 1.4 GB file on it. I want to write a 2GB file to this disc. K3B displays the writing window and then this: http://imagebin.ca/view/eIywHR.html. If I try writing a smaller file, it works fine.
SVN commit 1103356 by mmalek: Wait for medium with the remaining size of last session not the whole disk. BUG: 230742 M +1 -1 k3bdatajob.cpp WebSVN link: http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=1103356
I am having the very same problem on 1.91.0 (well I've been co-existing with it since I don't know which version and hoping it would get fixed soon but it wasn't the case. It happens on the very same hardware on both kubuntu (9.10 and now 10.04), Opensuse 11.2 and Sabayon and with different media. I get the very same dialog box asking me to insert a "suitable" media when the media is reported as appendable (and it indeed is) by k3b media info --- debug output so you can see my burners ------------------------------ Devices ----------------------- SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252S R950 (/dev/sr1, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM) [CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW] [SAO, TAO, RAW, SAO/R96P, SAO/R96R, RAW/R16, RAW/R96P, RAW/R96R] [%7] PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D 1.22 (/dev/sr0, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+R DL) [DVD-ROM, DVD-R Sequential, DVD-R Dual Layer Sequential, DVD-R Dual Layer Jump, DVD-RW Restricted Overwrite, DVD-RW Sequential, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD+R Dual Layer, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW] [SAO, TAO, RAW, SAO/R96P, SAO/R96R, RAW/R16, RAW/R96P, RAW/R96R, Restricted Overwrite, Layer Jump] [%7] K3b::IsoImager ----------------------- mkisofs print size result: 60123 (123131904 bytes) System ----------------------- K3b Version: 1.91.0 KDE Version: 4.4.3 (KDE 4.4.3) QT Version: 4.6.2 Kernel: 2.6.31-sabayon Used versions ----------------------- mkisofs: 2.1.1a77 mkisofs ----------------------- /usr/bin/mkisofs: Warning: Cannot add inode hints with -no-cache-inodes. Hope it gets fixed asap because right now I am left with either installing nero for linux or having to rely on Windows to burn data onto optical media and sometimes theres proble appending data onto media thats been burn on k3b and vice-versa.
I'm reopening the bug then

I tried to reproduce the bug recently, but I couldn't. 170MB free is not that much. I'd guess that it's too few space for an additional session.
I can see here the same bug as described above with version 1.91.0-rc2 from debian. BTW: It's independent of DVD+R or DVD-R
