Description Shlomi Fish 2009-06-19 13:43:00 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

The system tray icons of klipper, akregator, Amarok and Kopete are not displayed and instead there's only a black rectangle (where black is the background of the system tray). I know they are there because I can click or right-click them to minimise/maximise the apps, etc.

I should note that it also happens on a completely new user account. This problem only started happening a day or two ago.

Re-opening because it's not the same bug. I didn't have it at 2008 - only started two weeks ago on KDE 4.3. Furthermore, the icons are clickable as opposed to what the title of bug 174964 suggests. For other people who are having the same bug on Mandriva Cooker, see:

re-dup'ing _because it is the same bug_.

In https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=51818 I have found that this bug is related to nvidia driver. With nv (xorg) driver the icons are apparent.

Hi!

I don't know about nvidia/nv, but I'm using the open-source radeonhd driver with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 AGP card and am still getting this problem.

I see this bug in Mandriva Cooker, no matter what DE, and no matter which nvidia driver. I have tried nv, the nvidia proprietary, and nouveau. The bug is still there. The only exception to this is XFCE. The icons are apparent in it. I do not have the icons in Gnome, in KDE, in LXDE, or any others.

Thanks.

Perhaps a problem related to new(svg)/old(png) icons?
Comment 9 Dedanna1029 2009-07-12 17:18:57 UTC
I have just run a search. The pulseaudio icon is paman.png. The networking icons are all .png. When I load a theme after double-checking that these icons are .png, it makes no difference.

My own feeling about this, is that the DE, for whatever reason, is having a rough time with that area of the panel, so doesn't load those icons.

For me, this issue started happening (along with a couple of other things, such as top window borders are missing the X and the box for maximize, and the minimize is way over on the left-hand side) when they first updated glibc in 2010 Cooker. Ever since then, my DEs have been hosed up in some way or another, and there have been two glibc updates at least since (if not three). What else updated that day? I have no clue. I only remember about glibc updating.
