Description Paul Weaver 2008-09-18 16:55:19 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

If I add the "Task Manager" widget to the desktop, and then hover over it I get a nice little settings button that appears to the side. In the settings I can select "Only show tasks from the current desktop".

However, there appears to be no way to access this settings dialogue for the widget that is residing in the task bar. If I right click on the pager or a launcher icon, for example, I get a little settings item in the context menu, but all I get for the task manager widget are the options for each window I click on!

I believe that there is a button/menu item missing somewhere, and that functionality of the task manager would be greatly improved by easy access to the settings!

You can, but it's harder than it should be. If you close all windows, you should be able to right click on the empty space where the taskbar is. Obviously this doesn't work when the taskbar is full.

I think a nice UI would be if you could click on the "CASHEW" (the panel button for configure mode), and then right-click on the taskbar. This would also be a nice UI to get the settings menu for the System Tray (without having to click pixel-perfect on it's border) - though I understand it would be very difficult to get the System Tray to co-operate.

This is very similar to Bug #166886 "(nearly) impossible to open the 'Task Manager Settings' dialog when the task manager's list is full". Since there are already 27 "votes" for that bug, can I suggest you mark this one as a duplicate?

It should be easier for developers if there are less copies of the same bug in the system. Also it seems bugs can become "confirmed by popular vote", which seems less likely to happen if there are multiple similar ones, dividing the vote :-).

Sure, that sounds like a good idea. I did search for duplicate bugs, but I guess I missed it, apologies!

Thanks!
