Description Stephen 2008-07-11 07:35:09 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

I think digikam should have an option when downloading images from the camera to rename the files.

In gthumb this can be done by checking a box not to keep original file name. This results in files having similar names and a "*.jpg" name.

My camera, the Kodak M1033 saves images as *.JPG which is very inconvienient as when i go to upload them firefox usually does not show them in the upload box due to Linux case sensitivity.

Now if this was only 1 or 2 images, manually renaming would not be an issue, but when i am dealing with 200+ pictures, it becomes a large problem. I figured out i could use "rename 's/.JPG/.jpg' *" in the command line, but i think that it is inconvenient.

I like digikam, and don't want to be forced to use gthumb.

I think that the option to rename the files on download is definitely neccesary

Stephen,

just to be sure: there is a rename on camera download, right?
In addition you would like to lower-case the filenames, correct?

If this is about making names lowercases this is INVALID. There is possibility to make them lowercase, uppercase and several other manipulations.

This report is invalid because you can change filenames to lowercase when downloading.
