Description missive 2008-07-05 17:07:19 UTC
Version: 4.00.85 (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

I am trying to add new plasmoids with the Install New Widgets -> Download From Internet option.

The Get Hot New Stuff dialog comes up, and I can see the available selections with previews and descriptions. I choose one to try out and click Install.

After that, I am not sure what to do. It looks like it installs -- the button text changes from Install to Uninstall, but I cannot add the plasmoid.

I close the GHNS dialog, but the newly downloaded plasmoid is not available in the Add Widgets dialog.

I also tried dragging directly from the GHNS to the desktop, but that does not work.

Also, if I close the Add Widgets dialog, open it again, and go back in to GHNS, the plasmoid that had displayed as installed (with the Uninstall button) now does not appear to have been installed (button says Install).

server side feeds are broken; not a plasma issue. will hopefully be worked out at akademy next month.

Hi,

first of all thnks for kde 4.1 it's my main desktop now and I love it. I'm playing a little bit with it and I saw the problem describ it but it's seems for me that the problem is not resolved and there are probably only one solution for it: remove this button. It doesn't have any effect. The user is believing that new widget is installed with it but it's false. For what I saw, and successfully try, the widget must be compiled. I don't know exactly what this button is doing, it's seems to that you can download something with it, but I didn't find it and where it's downloaded. The only way I found to add new widget (from kde-look.org) is to go the website, take the source and compiled them myself.
This issue is not resolved, new user will be very disapinted by it and the problem, because of the compilation, cannot be solved without removing the button.

This seems to be a duplicate of Bug 165046.
