Version: (using KDE 4.0.2) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages When the name of a file is too long to fit the column width of open dialog, there is no tooltip showing the whole name. This is true for all the applications I have tried: konqueror, okular, kate.
I suppose this should be marked as wish.

This is not a wish, it is a very bad *regression*. Togeather with other problems with the file dialog (the missing ability to restore the user configuration correctly and the too wide area used for preview) it makes it VERY hard to use KDE 4.
Here using: Qt: 4.4.3 KDE: 4.1.85 (KDE 4.1.85 (KDE 4.2 Beta2)) kdelibs svn rev. 899634 / kdebase svn rev. 899635 on ArchLinux x86_64 - Kernel 2.6.27.8 The file dialogs shows a tooltip for the files which their filename is too long to be seen in the Name column (or if their name is cropped in the Icon View). Can anyone else confirm this ? Thanks :)
I can confirm that :-) Next, we need a view that can actually display the filenames, within reasonable lenghts ;)
