Description Dima Ryazanov 2008-08-16 01:12:26 UTC
Version:            (using KDE 4.1.0)
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages
OS:                Linux

The file open dialog truncates long filenames and replaces the ending with "...". There should be a way to see the whole name - maybe display it in a tooltip?

I'll attach a screenshot.

Yup, this is an issue which I normally resolve by switching to a different view mode but we shouldn't have to force users to do that.

Here using:

Qt: 4.5.1 (qt-copy  958974)
KDE: 4.2.86 (KDE 4.2.86 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090514))
kdelibs svn rev. 969788 / kdebase svn rev. 969788
on ArchLinux i686 - Kernel 2.6.29.3

Even when using the "Short View" (icon mode) and the text on the side of the icon, when showing a folder with largs filename's files. They are displayed properly
Also, if in the treeview I resize the column so part of the filename is hidden (and replaced with "..."), a tooltip is there to show the complete filename.

Can someone else confirm this ? Thanks!

I can't reproduce it here either. The columns have the size of the largest item on the list, so I couldn't make '...' show up here. Closing.
