Applets which fail to load ("This object could not be created.") cannot be removed from the panel because they are missing a context menu.

same here. I experienced this with the show desktop applet which isn't available anymore in the latest opensuse 10.3 build (4.0.62). maybe plasma should check if a plasmoid isn't available anymore, give a notice about that and then remove the plasmoid.

Add a icon next to the failure text, its context menu allows removal.
