Description Fredrik Carenborn 2008-01-14 10:14:04 UTC
Version: 3.5.7 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: Gcc 4.2
OS: Linux

I have a SuSE 2.3 machine with KDE 3.7. I run a ThinClient enviorment for a school on this. I use Kiosktool to setup files associations and I stumble'd on a problem. I want to bind .dot files with OpenOffice writer. But when im trying to run those files with a user i get a "Open with: "-window and the list of Know applications are shown. When i choose Openoffice writer in the list the application starts fine with the document.
The settings for .dot files in Kiosktool is the same as .doc files, but i have tried all kinds of settings of course. I cant get rid of the Open with window.

Kiosktools default settings for .dot is Crossover's Microsoft Word, but I removed it and added openoffice writer instead.
I have Codeweavers Crossover with Microsoft Word etc. I have also tried to bind .exe files to open with a script i have in /usr/local/bin, but it behaves the same, a Open with windows appears.

I want these files to open with the applications they are associated with and not open a open with windows first.

Best regards

EDIT: I just detected that in File associations, within Konqueror's Configuration, the applications list for .dot files are empty. This must be why it keeps asking for a application. But why is this empty when i added the file binding in Kiosktool?

KDE 3 is no longer maintained and file association is not the domain of konqueror even though you can access that configuration dialog from konqueror's settings dialog. Anyhow, feel free to reopen this ticket if the issue still persists in KDE 4 for you.
