Version: (using KDE Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources OS: Linux At kdebase revision 706306 I can not type Japanese in KWrite. Is input method event support not implemented yet? It would be nice if we can get informed about the current status. Thanks.
Could you please try again with a more recent snapshot? Are there still problems entering Japanese characters?
I believe input method was not supported at the time you tested, but this has since been rectified and typing Japanese works for me. If there is still an issue, please report another bug.
I installed kdelibs r745252 and kdebase r745416 and tested scim and uim input methods with different Qt immodule plugins (scim-qtimm, scim-bridge and uim-qtimmodule). KWrite draws pre-edit and accepts Japanese input (I'm grateful for that) but there are still various problems. - Only the first segment of multi-segment pre-edit is highlighted. (scim-anthy + scim-qtimm) - Committed string is duplicated. (scim-bridge) - New text is inserted *before* previously typed one. (uim, scim-bridge) There might be some bugs in input methods but they work fine in other KDE4 apps. I'll report more details if needed.
The last two issues are likely fixed in kdelibs revision 745575, please test that and report back. Could you provide more information (ie. exact steps to reproduce, expected behaviour) for any issues that remain? Thanks.

Thank you very much for your work to support Japanese input. With kdelibs revision 746866 I can type Japanese in KWrite without any problems using scim-skk or scim-anthy with scim-bridge. :) The first issue in comment #3 is still present but it only occurs when using scim-anthy with scim-qtimmodule. It might be a bug in the plugin but I'll attach a screenshot to describe the problem. There seem to be some problems with the caret position when using uim-qtimmodule. I'll report more details later.
Created attachment 22551 [details] Problem using scim-anthy with scim-qtimmodule
Using KDE 4.0.2 I don't see any of the problems reported here anymore. The uim-qtimmodule from uim 1.4.2 (SVN 5283) works fine too, so closing as RESOLVED. Thank you again for your work!
