Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages First off, there are a number of different listings of this or similar bug. Some of the IDs include: bug 62282 bug 114503 and bug 55081 However, all were closed or resolved, but it is till happening to me. If I arrange my desktop icons (I usually sort by type) and then restart KDE, they go in to this weird arrangement where there are a few columns of icons (not the same columns as before the restart), but some icons leave the columns and go to a row across the top of the screen. So I have swiss cheese columns and then a row of icons across the top. The arrangement looks the same each time I restart, although I haven't been keeping careful records of where each icon is, so it may not be the same arrangement. Anyhow, not a deal ender, but it is annoying, especially since it seems to be resolved for everyone else! Thanks.
Are you using xinerama? I can confirm with a multihead setup that the icons put on the secondary screens all move to the primary screen upon a restart.

I don't believe that I am using xinerama, unless it comes with Kubuntu. I am only using a single monitor. For what it's worth, I am using superkaramba... but the icons on the desktop seem to ignore its presence. I'll post a screenshot when I get home.
