Thank for the reply, but you should have looked more carefully and not closed the bug from memory. This bug is NOT fixed. But I wouldn't object if you closed this bug by combining it with Bug 54434. While Bug 54434 does not deal specifically with the preview issue (or I would have found it when I searched the database yesterday), according to a comment at Bug 54434 which was posted THIS MORNING, the reported issues with autoarranging icons have been fixed on the desktop EXCEPT when preview is turned on. When preview is turned on the result is very ugly just as I reported.
Fixed in KDE 3.1.1
Bug closed. Kdesktop is no more mantained.
