Version: SVN revision 572321 (using KDE KDE 3.5.4) Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: gcc (GCC) 4.1.1 (Gentoo 4.1.1) OS: Linux I've tried ATF and amarok rescanned my collection. This caused some tags to change. I estimate that aproxametly 25% of my tracks that contain japanese characters was changed but there were also non japanese tracks affected. All non ASCII characters was substituted with a dot and the title and album tags was truncated to ~32 chars. Amarok did no longer recognize these files and the statistics was lost. The bug often work on whole albums but can sometimes leave a single undamaged file in an album and mess up the rest. This is most likely a bug in taglib and might be related to Bug 116504
Talked to reporter, invalid for the moment.
Talked to reporter again and cleared up some confusion...saw a file, which I'll post...definitely something odd happening.

Thomas -- We're making some progress. Thanks for the patience.
This is fixed in TagLib SVN. If you can try it out it would be great. You don't have to install it, you can use LD_PRELOAD set to the taglib svn build directory. I don't see any more problems here (and from conversations with you I saw both your problem and a different one at different points).
The SVN version of taglib works fine. Thanks :)
Reopening so I can correctly resolve it as fixed.
