Confirming because of the dupes.
Comment 5 Philip Rodrigues 2006-09-20 12:06:45 UTC
Should this be marked as a dupe of bug 102470?

Still, the backtrace is exactly the same. Does the same crash occur for you with a newly-created user? Perhaps you can work around the problem by moving config files out of the way. Try starting with ~/.kde/share/config/kontactrc .

The back trace may be the same but the results are not. I have not tried to
crash intentionally but yes if I do the same thing, try to change the filters
I get the same problem.

I have discovered a work around that did work but I can't find the specific
notes on what I did right now.

But in general what I did was backup the folder that contains the Kontact data
and personal config files. (don't remember where it was right now) Then
deleted them. I then created a dummy user and copied the folder back into my
user folder and restored the mail.

It's a hack but it works. I have since take to backing up personal folders on
all Linux systems I have. It does make migrating the office to linux
problematic though since I wouldn't want to do this with 500 users.

The duplicate bug 150946 has an attached RC file which causes the problem.

Bug 102470 is very likely the same problem.

Geez Thomas

This issue is so old that I have moved so far past this. I don't even
think I'm still using the same release of the OS.

You can close it or what ever you do. I don't actaully remember what I
did to fix the problem I may actually have just installed a new OS. To
be of use to anyone you have to work faster than once a year.

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude but it's really been too long.

Geez, My friend I really would close these bugs as fixed really. You can remove me from the reports though. I have since moved to Gnome and Evolution and would be of no help in working on this problem.

Thanks
