Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages In konsole 1.6.2, if I do cat GLASS.utf8 (I attach the file here - it comes from pango 1.13.0 examples' folder), and then try to scroll the console, a lot of blocks remain printed in the rightmost section of the console window... it's difficult to explain but if you try that command and try to scroll, you'll immediately realize ;)
Created attachment 15863 [details] the UTF8 file for the test
Strange indeed.
*** Bug 130954 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Konsole was not repainting some parts of the screen when scrolling. Fixed in KDE 4 as a by-product of using a double-buffered display.
Robert, it would be nice if this could be fixed in the KDE 3.5.x branch. Do you have any ideas?
3.5 fix/workaround would be very nice to see. wget http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/examples/UTF-8-demo.txt cat UTF-8-demo.txt and then scrolling gets me such nasty konsole window: http://carme.pld-linux.org/~arekm/konsole-broken-utf8.png (and can't switch to kde4; even some developers say that most of people should stick to kde3.5 for now)
Re-opening pending a fix in KDE 3.5.x > (and can't switch to kde4; even some developers say that most of people should stick to kde3.5 for now) You can run KDE 4 applications in a KDE 3 session. I would recommend doing for Konsole at least if the option is available.
KDE3.x is long gone. Should this be closed?
I didn't test on any recent KDE build. Before closing the bug maybe somebody can confirm that on latest Konsole build, the problem doesn't appear anymore when running: cat GLASS.utf8 Just my 2cents! Francesco
I can't reproduce in KDE 4.x.
