Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1) start KDE with a new user. Set the pager to display wallpapers. Now change to another desktop. The background in the pager is not updated. the 4th on the other hand for some reason is. but the 1st, 2nd and 3rd are not. Enter the Configure KDesktop and change something (actually you don't even have to, you just have to make it think you did so you get the apply option. Click Ok to apply the changes. Now change your desktop. This time your desktop wallpaper is updated in the pager.
do you mean that backgrounds for desktops you haven't visited yet aren't updated, or that when you visit a desktop (e.g. 4) the current pager button (e.g. the 4th one) doesn't update it's background?
No visited. until I just recently restarted KDE, Desktop #1's background was still the default, even tho I had changed it 2 days ago.
this is a known issue and one that will not be fixed for kde 3.x as it is an architectural issue between kdesktop and kicker.

That bug does not describe what I was going for at all. My bug is that the backgrounds _are_ shown, but do not reflect the correct background. I set a background for all desktops. then switch to a different desktop and it never updates, only after a KDE restart does it update like normal. This is comming from a new user. First time it loads.

> That bug does not describe what I was going for at all and yet what you're seeing is due to the same cause. it IS the same bug. *grumbles about people reclassifying bugs that have already been triaged* *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 113472 ***
113472 is about when desktop backgrounds not updating automatically, this is about on the first load VERY first load the first aka selected/current desktop background is not displayed even when I set it to show the desktop. If I restart KDE then it's fixed. I fail to see how my bug is a duplicate of that one. How is it the same cause? Mine is only reproducable within a new kde session. it only happens to the first/current panel preview. All the others work fine. My bug is NOT that they do not show on start-up My bug is that the first one, in a NEW kde session even when I change to a different desktop and back is the preview updated. Can you still say that this and the other are the same bug??
