Description Achim Bohnet 2006-01-13 18:23:19 UTC
Version: 0.8.1 (using KDE 3.5.0, Kubuntu Package 4:3.5.0-0ubuntu9 dapper)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.15-11-686

rational: One can have a Album with a given kind of icons,
e.g. logos, emoticons. Currently one can only use
images from such albums as thumbnail for other folders, tags
when once copies or moves the image into the folder, tag.
that's needless complicated. Please allow any image be used
as thumbnail for any folder, tag, search, ....

example usage:

logos/debian.png as thumbnail for folder events/debian/
emoticons/smile.jpg " " " " people/ or faces/

Just for your information: For albums, it already works by dragging an arbitrary picture onto the album, but for tags that doesn't work yet.

Hmm sorry I don't quite understand the original post.
What is working right now is the following:

1. Drag and image from an album to another one and set it as album thumbnail
2. In tagfolderview, drag some image to the tag icon, BUT this is only working for the tag that holds the image.

We can add the possibility to set an thumbnail from any image, too.

Gilles, Marcel and others,

what do you think?

For me a tag normally has one specific thumbnail that I don't share with other tags (faces, animal etc), but it shouldn't be a problem to add this feature.

The problem with album icon is to use an image outside the collection, for ex from system. What happen if you update your system and icons disappear ?

This is why only D&D from collection is available to assign image as album thumb.

Of course to be able to assign Tags album thumb by D&D as Physicals album is fine for me...

I think OP wanted to use ANY image as thumbnail of ANY album or tag. This is reasonable I think. For albums it works already for me (even across collections). For tags only for current tag.

While I agree that tag limitation is logical, from the other side this is very different behaviour from albums thumbnails and can be misleading for users

Icons or images from the collection can be assigned to an album as thumbnail using drag and drop. In order to set an icon to a tag as a thumbnail, the tag must also be assigned to the icon.
