Description Szokovacs Robert 2006-01-06 13:52:27 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

I have several folders that has sent mail in it, but I can't make kmail to threat them as such: the pop-up menu doesn't have'send again'. I think kmail would be more consistent and usable if instead of the "Shown column" option, there would be a checkbox to mark the folder as 'sent-mail folder'.
Unfortunately, this still don't solve the problem of the folders that one use to hold entire discussions via 'keep replies in this folder'

This works for me.
Are you using filters which modify the outgoing mail? If so, this is the same as bug 78689.

Please check that.

I don't have any filters. If I set the "Show column" to "Receiver" in a folder, nothing else changes, and I don't have "send again" in the pop-up menu on the messages.
How is it works for you?
Comment 3 Thomas McGuire 2007-07-15 15:20:10 UTC
I don't think this has anything to do with which columns are shown.

>How is it works for you?
Well, I do the following:
1. Make sure the "Keep replies in this folder" checkbox is checked in the folder properties.
2. I simply reply to some mail. After the mail is sent, it is moved to that folder. Then the message has "send again" in the context menu. Additionally, the message list displays a little icon that shows that you've sent that mail yourself.

Are you maybe trying to send again messages which weren't sent by you in the first place? Maybe something like messages from mailing lists, where you automatically get a copy of your message.

I have several folders with sent mail, archives, separated by various criteria. I sent those mails, but later I moved them from the sentmail folder to another, which incidently also contains sent mail. I don't use the "Keep replies in this folder", because those folders are not incoming folders.
Comment 5 Thomas McGuire 2007-07-17 13:11:08 UTC
I still can not reproduce. Even after manually moving messages from the sent-mail folder to some other folder (which did not have "keep replies in folder" set), the "send again" function was still available.

Maybe you should try the newest KMail version, maybe that fixes the problem. Otherwise, I can't reproduce and thus not help you.

I have kmail 1.9.7, from debian unstable. I created a video in which I do what you just described, see http://szo.hu/test-0000.mpeg
Comment 7 Thomas McGuire 2007-07-17 21:38:37 UTC
That is a nice video, but I am doing exactly the same.
Maybe it only happens for IMAP.
Comment 8 Szokovacs Robert 2007-07-18 11:37:13 UTC
Looks like kmail marks the mails sent in its own way, only in local folders and only for mails sent from kmail.
I would like to have it as a folder-level property, since, as I said, I have several sent-mail folder, and we have shared template folders also on imap.

Ah, I see, so "Send again" is only enabled for mails that were sent by KMail itself, but not for mails which were sent by other clients.

Ferdinand, is that the same thing you are experiencing?
Comment 11 Ferdinand Gassauer 2008-07-22 22:13:52 UTC
kmail 4.1 recognizes only mail as sent, which was sent by himself , even not messages send by kmail 3.5.9.
regardless if these mails are in the local sent mail box or on IMAP.

IMHO it is essential that kmail handles IMAP folders transparently (as 3.5.9) for all of us who are working from more than ONE computer.

still in 4.1.1 Version 1.10.1

it happens on the computer I sent the mail

Hi all.

I'm on Mandriva Cooker (using kmail-4.3.2-1mdv2010.0 ) and "send again" no longer works even in the sent mail folder by default. I think I could get it to work eventually, but I'll be damned if I remember how. It is now greyed out without telling me why it is.

So this behaviour has gotten worse. Please fix it, because I really like the "Send Again" feature, and it's one of kmail's best and most useful features.

Regards,

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.

It looks OK now (4.9)
