Version: inconnu (using KDE 3.5.0, Kubuntu Package 4:3.5.0-0ubuntu0breezy1 breezy) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-10-686 Hi I found a PDF that is perfectly shown by evince and xpdf, but which fonts aren't rendered "at all" by kpdf : it only shows some random characters... Here is the buggy pdf : http://www.lepoint.fr/static/palmares/ecoles_ingenieurs/pdf/1692_Palma_PostBac.pdf (it's a french text) Thanks
Works perfectly here
I'm not alone with the bug : it was found on two kubuntu breezy 5.10 with KDE 3.5...
Well, that's probably due to kubtunu using ancient versions of freetype, the fact that you can reproduce it does not mean the bug is in kpdf.
And why does it work with other xpdf-based PDF reader, or even with xpdf itself ? Aren't evince and kpdf using the same code "base" ? Should I "redirect" the bug to the kubuntu bugzilla ?
>And why does it work with other xpdf-based PDF reader, or even with xpdf itself ? Because they probably don't work with the newer freetypes and kpdf does. >Aren't evince and kpdf using the same code "base" ? No, codebases are different, code is 99.99% similar >Should I "redirect" the bug to the kubuntu bugzilla ? Can you test a patch if i send it to you? If you can do not redirect to kubuntu bugzilla but if you can not please do and tell them i need someone able of testing a patch.
Jonathan Riddel (kubuntu developer) has tested that pdf in dapper (next kubuntu release) and it works there. Updating freetype is the key, i'm closing the bug.
Tried that one on kubuntu 5.10 breezy with KDE 3.5.0 ... only shows some really weird Y´s, c´s and n´s
Martin: fixed in dapper. Not breezy.
