Version: inconnu (using KDE 3.5.0, Kubuntu Package 4:3.5.0-0ubuntu0breezy1 breezy)

Hi

I found a PDF that is perfectly shown by evince and xpdf, but which fonts aren't rendered "at all" by kpdf : it only shows some random characters...
Here is the buggy pdf : http://www.lepoint.fr/static/palmares/ecoles_ingenieurs/pdf/1692_Palma_PostBac.pdf (it's a french text)

Thanks

Works perfectly here
Comment 2 pierre 2005-11-29 22:53:26 UTC
I'm not alone with the bug : it was found on two kubuntu breezy 5.10 with KDE 3.5...
Comment 3 Albert Astals Cid 2005-11-29 23:04:46 UTC
Well, that's probably due to kubtunu using ancient versions of freetype, the fact that you can reproduce it does not mean the bug is in kpdf.
Comment 4 pierre 2005-11-29 23:35:52 UTC
And why does it work with other xpdf-based PDF reader, or even with xpdf itself ? Aren't evince and kpdf using the same code "base" ?
Should I "redirect" the bug to the kubuntu bugzilla ?
Comment 5 Albert Astals Cid 2005-11-29 23:53:29 UTC
>And why does it work with other xpdf-based PDF reader, or even with xpdf itself ?
Because they probably don't work with the newer freetypes and kpdf does.

>Aren't evince and kpdf using the same code "base" ?
No, codebases are different, code is 99.99% similar

>Should I "redirect" the bug to the kubuntu bugzilla ?
Can you test a patch if i send it to you?
If you can do not redirect to kubuntu bugzilla but if you can not please do and tell them i need someone able of testing a patch.

Jonathan Riddel (kubuntu developer) has tested that pdf in dapper (next kubuntu release) and it works there. Updating freetype is the key, i'm closing the bug.
Comment 7 Martin Fabian Hohenberg 2005-12-01 23:55:00 UTC
Tried that one on kubuntu 5.10 breezy with KDE 3.5.0 ... only shows some really weird Y´s, c´s and n´s
Comment 8 Jonathan Riddell 2005-12-02 00:15:07 UTC
Martin: fixed in dapper. Not breezy.
