Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0) Installed from: Debian stable Packages OS: Linux I am running Kubuntu 5.04 for PPC on an iBook G4 933 MHz. Whenever I insert a DVD in KDE, I get the follow error: The application KDE Daemon (kded) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV) The backtrace is as follows: (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1". (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) more of the same... [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] [New Thread 16384 (LWP 5870)] (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found)... 0x0fd6cc5c in waitpid () from /lib/libc.so.6 #0 0x0fd6cc5c in waitpid () from /lib/libc.so.6 #1 0x0f44045c in KCrash::defaultCrashHandler () from /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.4 #2 0x0f44045c in KCrash::defaultCrashHandler () from /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.4 There are #3-#27 that look just like #1 and #2 The error message above flashes again and again, opening up one KDE Crash Handler window after another until I eject the DVD. I had installed nothing other than the base installation. I had not installed anything since the installation. Any ideas? Thanks, Dave
For clarification, when I said I installed from stable Debian packages, I meant that I did a fresh install directly from the Kubuntu 5.04 CD. I had installed no other packages when I had inserted the DVD and got the error message Dave
Probably mediamanager
A packaging issue? I can't reproduce it here...
This seems to be specific to iBooks. Possibly an issue with HAL, do you have Gnome installed to see if that crashes too?
On a previous installation, I had both KDE and Gnome installed with ubuntu. It was a release candidate, though the one I am using now is the final realease. I got the same error on KDE with the RC also, and with gnome, there was no error and I even used Kaffeine to watch DVDs within gnome with no problems.
I'm afraid there is little use in keeping this bug open. Please compile later releases from source with --enable-debug and redo the backtrace. We don't have iBooks that many ;(
