Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.1) Installed from: RedHat RPMs OS: Linux My recent experimentation with the GNOME terminal has made it very clear: Konsole is the best terminal program ever created. :) However, there is one single feature which gnome-terminal has that I thought was really useful and would be perfect for Konsole as well. When you create a new tab, the new shell opens in the directory that you were in in the current tab. For example: open a new konsole, "cd mydir/subdir", then press ctrl-shift-N and you find yourself in another shell already at mydir/subdir. This would only apply to new tabs, not new Konsole windows.
This would have to be configurable as I would not want it by default. There are other wishes for 'clone/duplicate' current window when creating a new tab. This may be what you want... 34395 and 76592
Indeed, I have identical experience. Option to duplicate a tab is really missing from Konsole. Please fix it!
Fixed in KDE 4. Session type and working directory and duplicated for new tabs by default (unless you choose a new session of a different type to the active session).
Un-fixed this while working on some internal changes. Reopened bug to remind me to fix it again later on.
I see something similar happen when I open a Konsole from Konqueror by pressing F4 - The new konsole is opened with the shell in the same directory as I am using in Konqueror (as long as it is a local fs of course!). E.g. if I am in ~/Downloads/kde-l10n-mr in Konqueror, Konsole also starts up in ~/Downloads/kde-l10n-mr However, EVERY new tab created has the same starting directory (~/Downloads/kde-l10n-mr) rather than going to my home directory. Is this (a) intended behaviour? (then how do I turn it off) (b) a bug separate from this one (then I'll file it as such) I /am/ using an ancient ;) version of KDE (3.5.2/Ubuntu 6.06 using Konsole 1.6.2), so this may already be fixed... (PS: Excellent feature to have, but also enable/disable-able! +votes from me)
