Description emgrasso 2005-02-16 16:40:48 UTC
Version: 1.7.1 (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
OS: Linux

I just upgraded from Fedora core 2(KDE 3.2, Kmail 1.6) to FC3 (KDE 3.3.1,KMail 1.7.1)

I am disappointed that the "Local Folders" entry is no longer bolded when any of the folders it contains are bolded because of new mail arriving. I use a lot of folders, too many to be all be visible in the display at once because I do most of my mail reading in the preview window. The composite bolding was a very useful indicator: if LocalFolders was bold, I knew to scroll down and see which folder had new mail (I do not like audible notifiers or popups).

I have also noticed that the status line at the bottom of the mail window seems to provide less information in 1.7.1. When I login and it is downloading messages, it no longer says how many messages it is downloading from which account and how many bytes have been downloaded out of the total number. It just sits there showing the most recent "Transmission complete. No new messages." message. It looks like nothing is happening (the highlighting of the folders seems to be deferred until late in a long download, too).

It would be really nice to have both the status bar and Local Folders providing the information I got used to in 1.6, perhaps as an option?
