Description Jacob 2005-02-16 01:15:05 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

KjobViewer crashed when I tried to uninstall a printer becuase it was interfering with my print jobs. I got the printers to work even though it never uninstalled the other printer.
I keep getting those signal 11 (SIGSEgv) errors for a number of different programs and I am not quite sure why it keeps happening. I am running SUSe 9.2 on an Athlon 1700+. If anyone has any ideas or could help I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Comment 1 Michael Goffioul 2005-02-16 10:14:13 UTC
Can you report any backtrace from the crash dialog that normally appear in those cases?

Michael.
Comment 2 Jacob 2005-02-16 21:39:35 UTC
Here is a backtrace of the openOffice.org 1.1 crash which happens the most often.
Comment 3 Michael Goffioul 2005-02-17 11:41:57 UTC
Heu..., where?
Comment 4 Tom 2005-02-18 22:18:20 UTC
Hey,
Here's the same problem. This happens everytime I use kjobviewer when my priter is turned on. Using CUPS.
Thanks,
Tom

Well folks, here is my bad news: I tried to print from GIMP and now that job is sitting in the waitingline of KjobViewer and can't be removed.

But then... who doesn't?... ;-)

Thanks and regds.

Comment 7 Michael Goffioul 2005-03-08 12:54:34 UTC
There's still the possibility to perform print administration tasks in the CUPS web interface at http://localhost:631.

However, guys, I'd like to clean things up. I feel we're talking about several things here. The original bug report is about a crash in kjobviewer when a printer is removed (even then, I'm not sure about the exact context concerning that problem, the report is not clear). If it's the case, could anybody state clearly the steps to reproduce that bug? Thanks.

Michael.
Comment 8 Tom 2005-04-09 18:14:54 UTC
I don't know how to recreate it. I believe I caused it by creating to many printers.
I went so far as to reinstall KDE and the same problem still occurs.
When I use the control panel tool in YaST I can print a test page but when I try to print anything from KDE such as a web page or any other document of any kind I get the output I previously posted.--- Tom

with kde 3.5.1, kjobviewer 0.1.
The crash happened with a opened kjobviewer, a job, the only one in the queue, was finished was removed from the queue, then the crash happened.
Comment 12 Michael Goffioul 2006-02-20 09:41:25 UTC
For Cristian: this is the kind of bug report that makes me definitely think all kdeprint internal lists (printers, jobs...) should use smart pointers...

Michael.

Hi,

while removing a printer from the list of available printers, I have two configured on the cups server, the kjobviewer crashed too. this happened two times in a row, I have kjobviewer 0.1 from kde 3.5.4.

here are the two backtraces:

Comment 14 Victor Toggart 2008-02-15 07:26:22 UTC
I installed a Brother DCP110C printer and setup appeared correct. It worked on a previous Suse 10.2 installation my new install of Suse 10.3 gives me the error message of kjobviewer crashing. The printer is on a usb port. Test prints end up in the printer que and are not printed out.

KDEPrint is obsolete, unmaintained and will never be revived. Closing all open bugs.
