Description J. Becker 2005-02-03 23:32:48 UTC
Version: 3.3.2 (using KDE 3.3.2, (3.1))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-6)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.27

Konqueror's default text color is always black; it does not follow the "Standard text" setting in control center, although the link and visited link colors set in control center do work in Konqueror. This makes light-on-dark color schemes impossible.

To reproduce:
1) Go to Control Center > Appearance & Themes > Colors
2) Set "Window Background" to Black
3) Set "Standard Text" to White
4) Set "Link" and "Followed Link" to red and green.
5) Apply.

(Close Konqueror windows, since these colors don't seem to get reapplied until Konqueror is completely exited and restarted.)

Open Konqueror and visit http://cr.yp.to/proto/maildir.html.

The result is that visited links are green, the unvisited links are red, just as they should be, and the background is black -- just as it should be. The Standard Text, however, is BLACK when it should be the white that you just set.

(By the way, reviewing the source for this page reveals that the page is only very basic HTML and that there is no color specification on this page or CSS; only basic HTML.

This bug has a lot of duplicates, but I think this new bug has the easiest way to reproduce the problem. Like the other bug reporters, I also would like to see an easy way to override the color settings in Control Center just for Konqueror or other individual apps, (or even a quick button that will revert Konq's color settings to white-on-black for a page that doesn't look right) but that wishlist item has no place in this bug report. (Incidentally, that capability is already there in the Custom-CSS settings, but it's not too easy to use.) This bug report is purely to point out a real bug.

Grepping through the konqueror source code for 000000 and black (case insensitive) reveals nothing useful. It's likely that this value is not hard coded, but is pulling from somewhere else -- perhaps even a dark color in the same theme.
