Viewing the mail Netscape (7.1) Mail will also only show the Base64-encoded code. The attachment created by KMail has the following headers (seen when pressing 'v'): --Boundary-00=_Pn2/BN9nF/vY/w2 Content-Type: message/rfc822; name="forwarded message" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Description: service@_xxx_.de: _xxx_ =?iso-8859-1?q?Buchungsbest=E4tigung_-?= Paris, FRA, 11 =?iso-8859-1?q?M=E4r_2005_-?= Content-Disposition: inline and when I click on the "Eingebettete Nachricht" text I only get to see the Base64 encoded mail code. Clicking on the attachmentin the MIME tree however displays the attached mail fine. The same attachment created by SquirrelMail has these headers and is perfectly viewable in KMail and Netscape: ------=_20050201203913_25868 Content-Type: message/rfc822; name="_xxx_ =?iso-8859-1?Q?Buchungsbest=E4tigung_-_Paris=2C_FRA=2C_11_M=E4r_2005_-_?= .msg" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="_xxx_ =?iso-8859-1?Q?Buchungsbest=E4tigung_-_Paris=2C_FRA=2C_11_M=E4r_2005_-_?= .msg" It seems there is something wrong with the Content-Encoding. Either KMail can't properly encode in base64 (so that other clients can read it) or at least Netscape and KMail are broken in this regard (because both can't read the mails created by KMail). If you need test mails, please tell me. I don't wan to publish them as they contain private information. Thanks, Jens
Wanted to test with KDE 4.3.1. Do you still have this problem ? Can you attach a test mail or send one to me ?
Sorry ... since 2006 I completely switched to Mac OS X and currently I don't have a computer running Linux any more (except for our Mac Mini file server running Ubuntu without GUI). If the Bug is not reproducable any more with KDE 4.x, I suggest closing it.
PS I can send the whole email which caused this problem to you to test it with KMail KDE 4.x. It is still in my IMAP account.
