Description Daniel Franke 2005-01-18 15:07:15 UTC
Version: 3.3.91 (using KDE KDE 3.3.91)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 3.3
OS: Linux

The file association dialog doesn't resize properly, so the "Add" Button at the end is hidden by the config-dialog buttons Help/.../Cancel.

Created attachment 9152 [details]
some screenshots

default.png - dialog default size
resized.png - somewhat resized, Add-button is halfway visible
fullsize.png - the dialog resized to full scale, everything is visible
Comment 2 Daniel Franke 2005-01-18 15:15:36 UTC
Why does the wizard not store the version information?
Konqueror 3.3, KDE 3.3.91 (beta1), CVS 0501013

P.S. other pages of the config-dialog are affected also
Comment 3 Daniel Franke 2005-04-20 09:51:13 UTC
KDE-3.4.0 - compiled from sources:

Konqueror -> Settings -> Configure Konqueror -> File Associations
resizes properly, the Add button is visible.

Control Center -> KDE Components -> File Associations
does not.

Though it seems to be the same dialog?!
Comment 4 Daniel Franke 2006-08-20 16:59:58 UTC
KDE-3.5.4, same behaviour as described in comment #3 for KDE-3.4.0.
Comment 5 David Faure 2008-03-04 02:01:03 UTC
This is because kcontrol (kde3) and systemsettings (kde4) allow for a scrollbar, while the dialog used by konqueror does not.

And the reason why the contents don't become smaller is that the right side can be big (when clicking on an item), so the minimum height comes from that.

We could avoid using a stack widget and creating the details widget only when clicking on an item, I guess it would give less unexpected behavior (but more resizing and flickering)...
Seems to me like a better solution would be for systemsettings to allow modules to be a little bit bigger before giving them a scrollbar :)

Daniel is this issue still occurring in current KDE versions?
