Description Joseph Wenninger 2005-01-18 12:32:32 UTC
Version: unknown (using KDE 3.3.91 (beta1), compiled sources)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.4 20040623 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.4-r1, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.9-gentoo-r6

There are drawing glitches with the universal (kicker) sidebar, if a view is closed, the tabbar is only redrawn partly with transparency enabled.
For the new animated tooltips only the first few frames are drawn and than the animation stops. (with composition manager enabled)

not sure about the kicker thing (please test and mail), but the latest kompmgr cvs fixes the cool new kicker thing

yes, the tooltips issue is addressed. can you please provide a screenshot showing the sidebar drawing glitch, however? describing a visual effect isn't very helpful =(

Did you remove the effect for second tooltips (tooltip open -> switch to
another tooltip) from cvs because of this glitch?
if yes: not necessary: the latest kompmgr can handle those shape updates (was
necessary anyway :)

yes it does but not the shadows.. they are drawn for the full box even when it's still fading in. looks not good.
but else it rox0rs ;==)

shaping isn't supported in general yet - i.e. the window will allways be
rectangular
the problem is to create a nice shaped shadow picture in an EFFICIENT way ;)

KDE4 will include compositing support in KWin instead of Kompmgr and I don't expect this problem to be fixed for KDE3 by now, sorry. Closing.
