Description Peter Eisentraut 2005-01-17 03:59:47 UTC
Version: 1.7.1 (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

I have a folder which I have marked as containing a mailing list with the address pgsql-hackers@postgresql.org. In that folder I have a message with

From: Some Subscriber <foo@bar.com>
To: pgsql-patches@postgresql.org

Pressing the Reply to all button gives me this proposal for the reply addresses:

From: me
To: pgsql-hackers@postgresql.org
Cc: Some Subscriber <foo@bar.com>, pgsql-patches@postgresql.org

I find this behavior irrational and extremely annoying, as it involves addresses that are not involved in the original mail (so it's not a "reply").

I also tried adding pgsql-patches@postgresql.org to the list of mailing list addresses (since I have in fact two mailing lists in the same folder), but that didn't change the behavior.

I found the old behavior in KDE 3.1

From: me
To: Some Subscriber <foo@bar.com>
Cc: pgsql-patches@postgresql.org

to be much better. Please make it an option to get it back.

Even worse (I think this can be considered the same bug), using Reply or Reply to List _only_ sends mail to the folder-configured list. Reply to List should use the List-Post (or Mail-Follow-Up) field of the selected mail. The List-Post address configured in the folder mailing list properties should only be used when composing a new mail, and even then it would be better if the List-Post field of the currently selected message were used - so you can have more than one mailing list in the same folder. It would of course be great if the folder properties could hold more than one mailing list, but that's a different story.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
