Description Mikolaj Machowski 2005-01-15 16:45:10 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

digikamtags kio-slave is great - I am using it all the time.
It would be nice to have also digikamcomments:/ protocol to access
image descriptions.

I see one problem - preview of 'file'. First of all comments don't exist as
separate files, they are just SQL entries. How user could identify them - preview
of text? Not very good thing: (a) preview of text files doesn't show non-latin1 characters
(b) comments can be short and non very descriptive. Preview by file could be better.
But is it possible?

digikamtags kioslave causing images to be browsable by other applications is a side-effect and not an intentional implementation. "digikamcomments" kioslave does not bring any benefits for the digiKam application and so its a wontfix

digKam KIO slaves have been removed since 5.0.0 and replaced by a
multi-threaded interface.
