Version: 0.7 (using KDE KDE 3.3.2) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux Just a dream, but perhaps digikam can start it (among other photo oriented kde applications). The dream a standard format to upload photo archives to photolabs for processing. At the one is required to use webinterfaces to upload photos to the photolabs. Somehow it should be possible to specify a standard (xml) file format that provides all the information that a photolab needs to process the photo. I think that the composition of the archive to be uploaded to the photolab should be possible a e.g. digikam. The file should specify things such as the size of photo's, the amount of photo's to be printed, the quality, etc. Once the archive has been created it can be uploaded to the photolab, with 1 press on a upload button...... (keep on dreaming, perhaps. Perhaps not)...
probably best implemented as a kipi-plugin
I think a plugin will be the best way to go. Perhaps in you have a good contact with some gnome (photo) developers. I would be awsome if gnome and kde could work on this together.

Yes, I think so too. And this is why OASIS isn't the best place for it. Membership isn't for free, so OASIS isn't where I would recommend having a discussion with other opensource developers about an open file format. I would suggest that you contact the other developers of similar applications (including the non-kde ones), come up with an XML description, and maybe then ask for it to be published on freedesktop.org - a much more open "standards" body.
Does it makes sense, to keep this bugreport open? There are nowadays many commercial companies that offer photo upload related products, like photobooks, mousepads, cups, etc, etc. I assume that it will not be possible to create a standard anymore. An example of application that runs on linux and can upload before mentioned products can be downloaded from: http://www.cewe-photoworld.co.uk/prints/premium-prints.php Just look for CeWe in your country, if you really want to use it.
