Description Arent 2004-12-04 02:14:55 UTC
Version: 0.6.2 (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

I'm keeping all my images in a "master archive". I would like to use DigiKam to organize, but not to hold these images. Importing vast numbers of pictures to a DigiKam album and thus duplicating GBs of data doesn't make much sense to me.

I would suggest letting the user decide if he/she wants to copy, move or link images while importing to an album. If the user would trigger a modification of a linked image, DigiKam could replace automatically a linked image by a copied image (lazy copying). That would be very nice an clever!

digiKam is not meant to hold a separate repository of images (note, the album library path can be anything you want). if you are concerned about photos being modified, just set the directories/images to the non-writable.
