Version: (using KDE Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources OS: Linux half of the mimetypes have shadows and the other half do not. All of the SVGs do not have the shadow as well. Many of the PNG files that do not have a matching SVG source file have shadows.

For the shadow of SVG files i neve understood how to do, because afaik with svg i can only do a shadow with sharp borders, that is not very good loking, and all the png crystal icons have a blurred shadow. so i have always done a svg without shadow and then added it in png version with the gimp. It would be useful if it would be some "official" specification/guidelines regarding this (i don't know if it exists or not) > _______________________________________________ kde-artists mailing > list kde-artists@mail.kde.org > https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-artists . >
I will write a description on what I see as what we should use as "the defualt" shadow with an example file in the next few days. To be honest the sharpness of the shadows depends on the rendering engine and how it anti-alias's. The only way to have a truly sharp edge would be to either have a distinct horizontal or vertical line with a solid fill. I assume that the shadows in the pngs are gradient fills, and only partially opaque (probably about 30% transparency, but that is a guess). This is an important issue which needs to be fixed ASAP, perhaps we should change this to major?
This bug is too old. Old kde is not maintained anymore. oxygen icons looks fine to me. Anyway, if you feel there still exist problem after so many years, feel free to open a bug for newer icon.
