Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.1) OS: Linux The file manager sort order is incorrect a '^' symbol in the column header denotes names (values) with a lower value should be before values with higher value... 'a' before 'b' a down arrow 'v' implies higher values should be displayed before lower values. Konqueror does it the other way round which is illogical from both a useability perspective (Windows/Mac) and a Mathematical perspective.
I wish it would be that easy. It's this way in all Qt lists (and all GTK ones I tried). It needs to be changed for all of them. I mail qt-bugs

Actually, if it's that way in Windows/Mac, then I'd say *they* have a major usability bug. The arrow is not intending to denote a "superior/inferior" relationship but a "from..to" relationship. "from A to Z/from 0 to 9" is the only existing, agreed upon relationship between roman/arab alphanumeric symbols worldwide. It might node bode well with the full unicode range, but it's the only relation that is somewhat intuitive from a human or humanist perspective - the rest is plain arbitrary anyway, even from a mathematical point of view.
<FONT face="Default Sans Serif,Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif" size=2><DIV>If that is the case then what does the from..to denote when it becomes a to..from ??</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>You can easily say from Z to A. don't use reply if you have a broken mailer
This is handled by the style, and consistent with non-Qt application on the same platform
