Version: 3.3.1 (using KDE 3.3.1, SuSE) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.5-7.111-default It would be nice to have the konqueror "find files" dialog search the contents of gz, bz2, zip, ... archives. Reason for me: I compress folders to archives when they will be rarely used in future. Unfortunately this excludes them from any search. So an checkbox in the find dialog where the user can enable the inclusion of archives' contents would be great.
While I find this feature request reasonable this bug report is way too old and has seen no love yet so I seriously doubt it will ever be implemented. Marked as NEEDSINFO:LATER because WONTFIX sounds a bit abrasive and I don't know for sure. Is this considered worth implementing? Personally I have not used zipped files for storage of personal files for quite some time now, so I would have less incentives to run a search inside zipped files. But I think that if we have the resources to do it it could be a nice feature to have. It could be useful when digging through very old files (college assignments etc).

This bug is now marked as NEEDSINFO, but what extra information can I provide? I would still find this feature useful and encourage me to use the mechanism more often.
