Version: unknown (using KDE 3.3.1, Gentoo) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 20040623 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.4-r1, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.9 cifs is a new samba protocol supply built-in with samba. however, KDE does not seems to recognize the type cifs as a network file system, it takes forever or crash while is doing fine in command line. i suppose when a mount type if not found it is considered as local, this is wrong, it should be consider as unknown and try to do as less as possible. I am actually not sure what is happening, but all kde application freeze on cifs browsing. weirdly it does not work too bad on my co-workers workstation (too bad = only a minute wait) the only difference we can find between our workstation are that I have the debug flag compil in KDE, not him. gentoo USE=debug, which i suppose is the equivalent to --enable-debug=full i'm not sure at this point what other information I can provide.
This might be duplicate of the bug I reported here: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92347
I would love if people would stop reassigning all smbmount related things to smb:/ *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 92347 ***
